In the first module, we covered the issue of integrating technology into adult literacy programs in general. In this second module we looked at the more specific case of integrating computers into the curriculum. We discussed the various uses for the computer (e.g., administrative, to communicate, to support and/or deliver instruction, etc), and the need for programs to determine what level of computer use to teach both staff and students. We then looked at the issue of using the computer to learn and examined the notion of two general streams of learners in adult literacy programs and related teaching approaches (i.e. authentic learning and everyday living themes, constructivism and subject specific curriculum). Finally, we discussed the importance of integrated curriculum and reviewed the basic curriculum development process. Please complete the assignment for this module now.
